The Winona Peach Festival recently participated in the City of Hamilton's Waste Management pilot for Green Cart organics collection. We placed green carts together with the blue recycling bins and waste recepticles. The following were the results from our pilot project:
- 17.3% of all waste generated was diverted from landfills
- 15.8% of waste diverted was recycled
- 1.5% of waste diverted was acceptable organics
This year we have expanded our recycling program together with our partners at Advantage Waste Systems to divert even more waste and corrugated cardboard from our landfill.
